Voluntary leave for the remainder of the semester means just a 2.5 month leave, of which classes won't take place during nearly 2 months. It's also not clear if it's paid leave or unpaid leave or partially paid leave.

So just a cosmetic "punishment" to soothe some egos and fool BJP supporters, that's it.

I am a former Jindal student. I can honestly say that Sameena's teaching classes were seen unfavourably by most students. She has used the C-word in class in the past as well. Yes, she used it to mean a fool, like in Delhi lingo, but that is still inappropriate for a classroom and the word is pretty offensive in other states. She also employed questionable evaluation methods. For example, she used to award 10 marks in class to students who stage 2-minute plays in groups. It went something like this:

- A boy student (acting as a husband) slaps a girl student (acting as his wife)

- The girl student-wife complains to another girl student (acting as a lawyer)

- The girl student-lawyer informs the "audience" (class) about X provision of the law and complains to another boy student (acting as a judge)

- The boy-student judge convicts the boy student-husband and cites A vs B Supreme Court case to further enlighten the audience.

As for how Sameena rose to such a senior level and received foreign research grants, the answer is a combination of her excellent contacts/network and the subject she specialises in. Just submit a research proposal on corporate mergers vs a proposal on violence against Dalit women to foreign research bodies. 99% of the time the latter proposal will be awarded a grant.

it works both ways. Students don't like to work so they will bully and run out of town professors who are expecting rigor. Obviously, someone with no rigor like this Sameena Dalwai ends up staying for years and getting promoted year after year until the stupidity offends a number of students. It is obvious to everyone now that Raj and the admin really don't know anything that's going on at their university. It is one thing to have their professors have academic freedom, it's another thing entirely to not be aware that this kind of low-quality no-rigor teaching is happening and not have caught it for years because the prof likely inflated grades and played along with the corruption. The admin only reacts to student complaints and almost always ends up caving in without investigating for itself , why has this person been there for years and been promoted and no one has sat in her class once to see what she teaches or looked at a lesson plan? Why have good professors been run out of town because a few students lied about them instead of actually having the admin sit in class and see if any of the allegations were true?

The buck should stop with raj- but theyre too busy making money off the students. So instead we have the inmates running the asylum here. Shameful state of affairs.

Yeah, every alternate driver in Delhi NCR has got a rich repertoire of 4 and 5 letter words. Should a teacher start using those in classes too as a mark of her affection to the students? In that case, should the students do the same too to the teacher? Clearly, when she's being called such affectionate things on her X handle now, she's feeling distressed. So probably everyone needs to tone down their unbridled affection a little bit and return to basic decorum instead.

Here comes the identity mongers, who'll deflect anything and everything to identity politics. "Everyone in Delhi uses it this way" is no reason to use it in class. Yikes. Also, what kind of a teacher asks students to create fake profiles and use someone else 's pictures? And you people support this sht?? I'm a Jindal alumni and former faculty myself. Identity as left wing. And think this is absolutely fc*all

She's the misogynist in this case. Parading her credentials won't make her stunts seem more palatable. As a person who's avowed left wing, I find her conduct deplorable and unbecoming of teacher. As for your affectionate use of chutiya, start calling your parents that way affectionately from tomorrow. Such sorry excuses for justifying the indefensible! Why students only, she should start saying such things to Raj himself and see how long it takes her affectionate self to get fired. You can't be irresponsible and an idiot and then try use your political position as a buffer to paint yourself as a victim.

In the past 48 hours, we have witnessed a shameful exhibition of misogyny and bigotry by the right wing. Prof Sameena is an eminent and respected scholar who was targeted only because:

- she is a woman

- she is a progressive left-liberal

- her father is a senior Congress leader

- she is pro-Palestine

- she is anti-BJP

It's nonsense to expect privacy from a Bumble profile, while everyone in Delhi knows that chutiya is an affectionate term that means "fool". Everyone in Delhi uses it that way. Parents say it in front of their kids.

The most disappointing thing about the whole affair is how right-wing students at Jindal leaked videos of Prof Sameena to RW Twitter accounts and then met with with Haryana women's commission lady and complained to her.

Admin has totally missed the point. The only reason twitter leaks are happening is cause students are being persecuted by faculty members and not being given space to express their views. When complaints of safe space violations are made, nothing is done. So, students resort to publicaly shaming the university as there is no trust in university processes.

Holidays are approaching anyway and the controversy will die down in a few days, so not a big deal in the end. But the bigger issue is that the RW students have clearly fired their shots. Will the LW students return fire?
