70% of the points in Naac grading is all about documentation under different categories that's verifiable (for example digital documens are verified by metadata, geo-tagging etc and paper documents the traditional way). The subagency of NAAC, TCS verify these documents like they do in passport offices. Which ever uni can get maximum marks out this 70% is in proximity to a better grade. Pvt Universities now-a-days engage consultancies for this documentation related tasks (sometimes they may even forge a document )). Remaining 30% is evaluated by an expert team after their visit to the campus. Here private universities again make sure that these expert committee members are happy 😁. Unfortunately public universities cannot engage a private consultancy or try any extra things to make the expert members happy since their funds are subject to auditing.

@Moderator: What you have marked as trollish is the real fact. Not an opinion. You can ask anyone who is familiar with the NAAC process. It is highly data intensive, unlike NIRF. All universities including NLUD that face a lowering of grade is because they have failed to adduce necessary documentary proof of what they claim. Your ignorance about the process should not be allowed to colour your judgment. The same thing applies to NLSIU's lower grade. NALSAR did better in this year because it got the proof ready.

I had the opportunity of talking to an UGC official who looks after NAAC related matters for law universities. He told me that apparently, NLUD, which had started with an very good NAAC rating of A+ the first time around has now only barely managed to score an A during the second NAAC cycle. I checked their website and found it to be true. Which seems to be quite weird, as the institution by all accounts has only improved since then, developed more infra, has done more research and got more funding, students have also been doing very well for themselves. If that instead results in a lower accreditation for an institute, then what's the use of NAAC at all? NALSAR on the other hand has got the highest NAAC grade that is A++ recently. Now don't get me wrong, I also think NALSAR to be an excellent institute, but in terms of infra and research, NLUD can't be doing that worse than NALSAR today as to deserve a whole different grade! NLSIU too has got a fairly low grade, just managing an A, though they did appeal against it in vain. Nor does NLSIU share its current NAAC A grade anywhere on its website like it is supposed to do. Can anybody share any insight about this whole thing? These are the three best places to study law in India at present as per my opinion, but how come their accreditation varies so much?
