We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I think the colonial stuff is honestly nonsense. Its our insecurity that makes us resent people who are successful in the world. An Oxbridge HYS/ Ivy education is more rigorous than what you find in any law school in this country and most universities. That is just true. Just reading scholarship that these students produce versus students with the same level of education in India- the difference is stark. It is not nice. And it doesnt mean people who study in india are less talented or capable inherently and can never improve or compete- it just means their education system has not served them well. I wish our education system was far better, but if we refuse to even concede to that obvious fact, if we refuse to recognise our own shortcomings, we really have no hope at all of improving things. Its not a colonial hangover to say- hey maybe some things are better in other parts of the world.
If you look around you, can you realistically say that the handful of persons working in your firm who have a foreign LLM benefitted from it. The answer is mostly no.
βToo dumb to make it to NLUsβ (for people doing LLBs abroad)
βYouβll never be as good as us NLU guysβ (for non-NLU grads doing LLMs abroad)
βYouβll never be as good as us tier 1 NLU guysβ (for tier 2 NLU grads doing LLMs abroad)
βWaste of time, because Cyril Shroff doesnβt careβ (for tier 1 NLU grads doing an LLM abroad and then returning to India)
βRich kid, nepo kidβ (in all the above cases)
Why so much negativity? π€¨
