It’s very helpful for the person you are approaching as well, they know exactly what you are looking for and will lead to a faster reply and accepting of req.

It is indeed a privilege demand. Linkedin is not Instagram where only known or related people will follow you. It's main purpose is to allow professional connect on a social media platform. In private sector, the only way you can keep yourself updated about jobs and actually get job is through these platforms. And maybe the person is connecting with you so that he can reach out to people who are similarly placed like you. I connected with all legal heads and partners of the law firm, and till now all the jobs that I got whether in-house or law firms, is through connecting them and messaging them about my interest. Government job thodi hai jo advertisment niklegi, that is why there are comments like CFBR, ++ and etc so that all professionals who are not socially connected can reach out to such jobs. And except few like you, nobody bothers to read introduction because everyone knows it is a template introduction. Yes, in case I get requests who are not even remotely connected with Law and HR, I just ignore it. Students and readers at LI, please don't bother yourself by writing introduction, you can simply connect with individuals. The number of downvotes indicate how hated you will be as a professional. Not everyone shares your level of thought. Just because you have a problem with someone being ambitious and rightfully passionate doesn’t give you the right to call normal people out. Start controlling your frustration.

How is this privileged demand lol? You are accusing OP of posting all that without even knowing them. Its basic problem that everyone is facing that law students send incessant requests and demand for help on LinkedIn.

Everyone is more than happy to help you if you have a specific request or want guidance based on someone’s journey but just connecting with random people just because they have work at fancy places is unhelpful for everyone. There is a follow option if you want to just stay in touch with their activities.

Connect with people if you want to get mentorship/guidance or help for something (something reasonable) and send a personalised message if you are sending a connection request, it will help your cause.

OHH ABSOLUTELY! So many random law students (most from good schools) just keep sending requests. Some of them don’t even have anything on their profile and it seems like they’ve just joined LinkedIn and my name popped in suggestions. But these kids need to understand that you only send requests if you need something or have met someone professionally and not to randomly increase your LinkedIn connection counts. Idk what they think will happen, by being connected to every T1 associate.

I have started to outrightly reject every such request except juniors from my college.

Please kids only send requests if you need some very specific help/guidance and no I cannot get you the internship, I don’t even know the process of how to refer someone for internship.

Sahi baat hai. Ap toh vese bhi desh k PM ho. Linkedin is meant for this purpose only where random people connect professionally to help other in their professional journey. However, it has now become instagram of professional wherein people like you would post random thoughts with a gym picture and expect people to send request with an introduction. Seems like privilege demand.

I have started getting unsolicited Linkedin invites from random law students without any introductory message. I am not going to add random people. If you want in, the minimum you need to do is introduce yourself and tell me what you're in the market for. If you can't do this basic mimimum, don't act shocked when your request is rejected.
