I think India's chances of winning the bid are 100%. China got the Olympics in 2008. By 2036, India will easily be holding the same importance in the world that China did in 2008. We will be a 10 trillion economy and the population will be close to 1.5 billion. The IOC will see it as a huge marketing opportunity.
Now, it's certain that Ahmedabad will be the host city for the bid, rather than Delhi. The TOI report above says that sites are being identified already. Assuming Modi wins in 2024, the central government will go all out to boost Ahmedabad in the 2024-29 period and possibly beyond (if Modi is re-elected in 2029). Meanwhile, Adani and Ambani will pump in funds, along with other Gujarati industrialists. So what will this mean for Ahmedabad as a city?

- Cleaner roads
- Luxury housing projects
- New luxury hotels
- Fantastic airport
In contrast, Mumbai is too overcrowded to carry out such work and the city is becoming unliveable with high rents and traffic. So will Ahmedabad then be the new economic capital of India, both because of new investments and spillover investments from Mumbai? Remember that the bullet train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will be operational by by 2027, taking just 2 hours to commute to Mumbai. So it's conceivable that people working in Mumbai could live in Ahmedabad and commute daily.
Wow. On the pretext of infrastructure investments for Olympic, this will be a new device to put money in the hands of few businessman/businesswoman in the country. Genuine intention to promote sports is nowhere to be seen. Politics and power causing destruction in the entire world.
