Other conversations on this are honestly so insulated and boring. Can anyone give proper information here about the numbers? How many students from each college have been shortlisted and if you can tell, what are their names?
According to LI comments, 2 from GNLU + 2 from NUJS + 0 from NLSIU. No authoritative confirmation. But if true, 0 from NLSIU means they will be Rhodes-less for the past 7 years.
Nlsiu needs to pull up its socks and start sending applications of meritorious and deserving candidates rather than sending the Queer Alliance head on every occasion. It may be cool to be confused about your gender in law school but it is cooler to study and moot a bit so that your CV also contains some legit stuff.
Btw, a guy/girl/tree/dog... whatever they identify as got selected for the interview from NLSIU for diversity reasons.
NLSIU doesn't choose which students will apply for the scholarship. Any student is free to apply, all they need from the institute is a bona fide student certificate and NOC.
If that's really the case, then Rhodes seems to have reduced itself to a minority-based scholarship for Indians for people from Kashmir, gender and religious minorities, PwDs, etc. That is not a bad thing by itself and I feel it should be encouraged since merit is a function of social opportunity, but it does raise doubts about the quality of people actually being selected and their inherent abilities beyond surface-level identities. The West will never understand Indians the way an insider will and they are more than happy to patronise people on such basis it seems.
Toppers from NLUs in Patna , Visakhapatnam and Nagpur are ruthlessly cornered and rejected. The same goes for Odisha.
Nuals and hnlu no idea.
Till date gnlu is strangely in the lead with two shortlist. NLS has one maybe and nujs prolly one as well. NALSAR also has one. Speculative but very probable.
One of my frnds even cried and said that he shouldβve taken clat once again as applying for Rhodes from a tier-3 sounds outrageous. Honestly that seemed really over the top until I heard the same thing from other students as well. Those tier-3 nlu flagbearers (who were too lazy for retaking and putting some effort) are facing the heat now. Even good students are getting no mileage. A true story for the upcoming senior years to come. Either join tier-1 or do some other course
You are wrong. Itβs not like they didnβt wanna retake clat. Majority of them did and didnβt get in. Itna aasan nehi hein mere bhai. After all unka ego fragile hogeya and they started investing on a tier-3 nlu where basic necessity seems a luxury let alone academics.

Anyone can apply for Rhodes in NLS. There are no gatekeepers.
It is remarkable how you some how manage to shoehorn your agenda into every fucking comment. It is so pedestrian.
