If you think Sudhir has made mistakes, please get Tarunabh Khaitan back and get him to run the uni instead. Already, there are reputation questions about him among the British, or so I have heard from my academic connections among them. They claim that he feels he needs to be the centre of whatever room he walks into. I also know him slightly, and I have questions about these charges. But in any case, now he's managed to put people's backs up. Why don't you, as the one with a fresh vision for NLS, make the arrangements for him to take a fresh start, back where it all began? Sudhir is a gentleman, perhaps that is why things aren't moving farther and faster. Maybe we need for NLSIU what one supporter of Binyamin Netanyahu called a leader who's an actual "arsehole son of a bitch".

Anyone who personally knows Rhodes Scholars also knows that the selection process isn't the best. While there are some very deserving people who have been selected, over the years many people have also made it on the weight of their minority/ 'difficult life' status (despite being very privileged in actuality). So no reason to celebrate this.

The years in the chart correspond to the years the students commenced studies at Oxford and not the year of the award. For example, Vansh Ravi Jain's year is 2017. It means he was awarded the scholarship in 2016 and commenced in 2017.

Thus, if NLSIU fail to win this year, the drought will be 7 years, not 6.

Lol. How many Rhodes has ILS ever produced? And even within DU, it’s only few colleges like Stephens, SRCC and Hindu that are actually considered competitive in this aspect. Not to undermine NLS’ achievements but there was hardly any competition in the field of liberal arts and law till other NLUs came up.

12 of the 25 came before the first batch of NALSAR graduated.

15 before the first batch of NUJS graduated.

18 before the first batch of GNLU graduated.

22 before the first batch of NLUD graduated.

Only 3 Rhodes scholars from NLSIU from the decade spanning 2013 to 2022, when all the leading NLUs were in competition. 2 since 2015. 1 since 2017. 0 since 2018.

Commendable, no doubt. But one of these Rhodes has made decisions that have destroyed the institution itself. So, I doubt that even in the next 100 years, NLS will ever produce as many Rhodes as it once did. The NLS in its old avatar is done and dusted now. This sounds like Jose Mourinho bragging about how great he was in the past as a football manager, even though today, his football is boring, tepid and painful to watch.

NUS hasn’t mentioned the exact number of Rhodes scholars in the archives yet. So the verification will be tedious to say the least.

There are a whopping 25 names, which is a massive number. No other NLU has reached even 1/4 that number. Furthermore, in three years there were TWO Rhodes scholars and in one year there were THREE Rhodes scholars. Another record. I understand that Rhodes has got more competitive in recent years, but even in the last 10 years there have been 4 from NLSIU. Still # 1.

Now, suppose NLSIU is barred from the Rhodes scholarship for the next 10 years. Even then, will NALSAR or GNLU overtake the number of 25? I don't think so. It will be like trying to score 50 runs in 1 over.

So the lead is just massive and will never be overtaken.

I also wonder if 25 Rhodes scholars in law could be an Asia-wide record, ahead of NUS Singapore? Or even a world record? Does anyone know?

I think this is the key reason for the 100% perception score in NIRF.
