Links to the story below, but the two tweets below sum it up best. IMO this exemplifies the hypocrisy of SoBo elites cosplaying as left-liberal socialist intellectuals (HOB = Karishma Mehta, a Bombay Scottish-Nottingham Uni educated girl who also fawningly interviewed Modi, LOL).
It's a complete misuse of IP law in the style of greedy corporations. The court should throw out this lawsuit with costs. I'm also disappointed that an NLSIU alum (Abhishek Malhotra) is representing HOB. He should have advised them not to sue. That would be the proper and ethical advice.
"I've stayed quiet on the appropriation of my work because I think @HumansOfBombay shares important stories, even if they've monetized far past anything I'd feel comfortable doing on HONY. But you can't be suing people for what I've forgiven you for."
"Pathetic - literally a plagiariser, suing someone for plagiarism, claiming their plagiarism is justified because itβs pseudo artistic/high-brow. Plagiarism is theft & youβre a common thief - nothing more, nothing less."
New York is the ultimate place in my opinion, i stayed their for a week and decided i gotta stay even if i work as a waiter, a waiters life in NY is better than a T1 law firm lawyer in india
This particular NULSIU alum slept through the ethics classes. You have not heard all the other goss about the stuff he's pulled and still is not behind metal stripes?
HOB did take inspiration from HON in terms of its 'corporate name', however, when you compare the 'POI', with 'HOB', POI copied word to word, the content of HOB. There are multiple indian brands which started decades ago taking inspiration from western name, which has now become house brands. For example 'campus' shoes. There is legit two nike ticks on that, and they are enforcing their IP rights continuously. There are 100s more. The suit filed by HOB was legit, if you read the content of Order, you will see how there was imitation. Its totally a different story if your hate has nothing to do with the actual ethos of IP laws.
