All media houses are saying that this is the purpose of the special session of Parliament. But is it possible without a constitutional amendment? One way is this: there are 5 assembly elections scheduled in December, while another 2 to 3 take place simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections. If these are clubbed together, then the Lok Sabha election and 7-8 states will go to polls at one. So 25% target achieved. Now, if UP, Haryana, Maharashtra and other BJP states voluntarily dissolve their assemblies, then some 12-14 states will poll alongside the Lok Sabha elections. So 70% target achieved without touching the constitution. Maybe this is the goal?
