Raj Kumar was given an unlimited budget, complete authority that can only be had in a private university and similar advantages. No other VC got such breaks. And VCV doesn't fit in this list at all. He's a paper tiger. Haven't done well in any institution that he's been a part of.
Raj Kumar didn't apply for a position at OP Jindal Global University. He envisioned a university of this scale and convinced Naveen Jindal to invest 500 crore in the first tranch and later fund expansion as well. How many VCs in this list can even dream something like this and make it happen? The only other person who would be on a similar standing is Madhava Menon.
Agree that VCV is only a paper tiger who failed everywhere. At NLSIU Prof Menon made him to resign. At NALSAR FM made him to resign. @IITKGP he was made to resign for administrative irregularity and at Bennet Law School was asked to leave after three years of underperformance
Except for the fact that VCV is excellent at PR, there are no significant differences between SP Singh's style of administration and VCV's. Even SP Singh enjoyed the same level of acceptance as VCV does today, although it grew progressively worse over time. Furthermore, even inaction will initially be praised in light of the notorious administration of the previous VC

the extremely inflated cabin part is true but afaik it was actually constructed when Bimal Patel was VC. If there has been any new addition or construction then idk.
The condition of academics is pathetic at GNLU under Shanthkumar. Most of the professors are bad and the ones who are good have started giving up on the pathetic affairs of the administration and academics. Students don't want to study at all in the junior batches. The entire campus is a mess with students only trying to have fun and mock at important academic and placement related things. Little do they know what is best for them.
The VC is just sitting and looking at the pathetic affairs. Meritorious students who are trying to study hard are being demotivated since all the students end up getting average marks whereby merit is just lost and trust in the institution is gradually vanishing.
That man only takes US trips and doesn’t care about what is going on in his college. Arbitrary academic policies, unsanitable living conditions for students (with basic facilities like clean drinking water not being provided), inefficient and rude/egoistic exam office, rampant physical and sexual violence on campus (if you have contacts, you can get away), no common spaces for students, unaccountable registrar, overcrowded campus with students beyond capacity, regular flouting of regulatory/government norms, etc etc
When you have a man heading this, i leave it to your judgement if he should really feature on that list.
NK Chakrabarti as VC and Raja Chakraborty as registrar have been phenomenal for NUJS. They're strong action takers and are working hard to maintain reputation and legacy of nujs. Unfortunate that college didn't have permanent registrar for 7 years
Prof. NKC, VC of NUJS is another person who is doing everything possible for the betterment of college. NIRF rank of NUJS has improved under him and the college could have been at no. 3 this time, had it scored equally good in 'Perception' Parameter. New courses have started with focus on forensics and criminology, for which the college will reap benefits in a few years from now. New Research Centres have been set up and several esteemed guests are being called to deliver lectures on a regular basis. Placements wise, college has been doing really well, credit of which goes to its students. Past couple of years have been several good developments, with infrastructure being the only area of concern. However, to that effect, construction has recently begun and within 2 years, the issue will be resolved.
LOL, if NKC is considered a good VC it shows how much standards have dropped among Gen Z. People like Madhava Menon, BS Chimni and MP Singh used to occupy this chair.
Popular academicians do not necessarily convert to good administrators. By that Logic PPS, who is an authority in a family law should have been a great VC or Saurav Ganguly should have been best BCCI president. Administration is different ball game and NKC has succeeded in that.
NLC is not a popular academic. Have you lost your mind? Nujs has the worst possible VC ever now. The guy can’t even defend his uni properly over losing placements
Sudhir. That’s the right answer. I’ve never seen an institution change so quickly and so many improvements be brought in in a single term. What would take others on this list decades to do - Sudhir has done in less than 4 years.
NKC has been actually good. Only 3 faculty have left in his tenure but many more have been added as Guest Faculty. He bought Aman Gupta from NLUJ and hired alumni and upcoming academicians like Manisha Kayal, Malobika Sen to teach.
A number of Vice Chancellors did good for their NLUs but maintained a low profile of themselves. They are Prof AK Kaul (NLU Jodhpur); Prof SK Bhatnagar (NLU Lucknow); Prof Kamla Sankaran (NLU Tamilnadu); Prof Rose Varghese (NLU Kerala); Prof Gurjeet Singh (NLU Patiala) to name a few. A few more may be recalled and included.
Why they may not be counted among one of the best ones.... or atleast better ones?? They maintained good rapport with their respective faculty and students alike. All of these seem to have avoided self-glorification and undesirable hyped publicity.
