You can start by reading more books relating to the legal sector. This is the trick that has been helping me for a while in embellishing my writing skills and transferring those skills to my academic papers/publications. In the limited amount of time you get , try to formulate a critical analysis of the book you read (I will suggest you to read books related to law ofc) and maybe get it checked by your professors or seniors for feedback. For oratory skills , I was always into MUNs/parliamentary debates during my school days and they both aided me to brush up my speaking skills. If you didnβt have this platform , then start participating into more and more college-level debates. Donβt start with mooting right away. Take baby steps. If you donβt take time to build a solid foundation of writing/speaking right now , then you canβt improvise later on. For instance , I always believe in the feedback system and there are always some professors (I am glad some of them are in my college) who will be ready to help you out if they see someone trying. Use the resources you have and carve out a niche for yourself.
For exams - you can structure your answers and make them more methodical. The best course of action will be to keep on getting your drafts checked by the assistant professors and you will be seeing a dramatic improvement. All the best!
One of our faculty members made these videos for us during the pandemic. These are reasonably good resources for you to get started. You should also get hold of Bryan Garner's book on 'Legal Writing in Plain English'. It has many practice exercises to improve comprehension skills and to effectively summarise cases.
Thanks
