In tax law, 40+ students failed and now the students aren't taking elective offered by same professor.
This measure by admin at demand of students is a conspiracy to ensure electives by senior faculty like Dr Lovely Dasgupta, Arup Poddar, Sandeep Bhat, Sanjay Kumar, Faisal Fasih get scrapped. It's because they conduct classes diligently
I wonder when will their placements take a hit. Not much time is left when Noojies will start earning less than SOME gnlu grads
And the law firms shortlist and take in those students anyway and then complain about how associates can't work properly any more. Everyone is complicit in this.
Given the standard of average NUJS students these days, if any course is taught and evaluated properly, half of the batch would fail. The few leftover good faculty members have all admitted to that on more than one occasions.
Cap has now increased to 60. So basically 60 students in batch can take 2 easy electives and score 80+ without knowing anything
It's not CGPA basis anymore. 2022 onwards it's 100% FCFS. So basically it's fastest finger first contest as everyone fills form in less than 1-2 minutes.
Students do not have the ability to pronounce which electives are relevant, sorry.
This VC neither understands academic rigour nor the drawbacks of pandering to every student demand. This is why NUJS needs someone like Sudhir or Prabhash.
There is a cap officially. 40 for each subject, 50% to be filled by CGPA, remaining 50% by first-come-first-served basis. However, students almost always put pressure on the admin to get the cap for easy courses ignored.
Discussion about a normal college is required? Especially about some irrelevant electives? Genuine question
The handful of good faculty who are still left at the place have apparently refused to offer electives when approached by the SJA, which goes on to show how disillusioned they have become because of student behaviour and performance.

This is what happens at NLUD. Every seminar/elective course has a cap of 20-25 students based on CGPA. Surprising that NUJS doesn’t have a cap on this. It’s seems much easier that way.

Was a great step by NUJS. However, maybe options should have been increased to any 3 out of 4 subjects in a group
Correct. According to the present generation, a good profession is the one who gives away high grades freely, while a bad professor is one who insists on academic rigour and marks fairly.
You still have choice under the new system, it's just that baskets have been created for you to choose from instead of completely a la carte choice.
why not just put a cap on the number of students who can take a particular optional module, if more students opt for a rather particular module then let the students with lower cgpa move to another module
