Heard recently that in house counsels with 5-6 pqe from NLS and other top law schools are making more than 60 lakh per annum in Bengaluru. A lot of people from tier 1 have made the switch to in house roles as it offers better work life balance also. Some of them were boasting that they barely work for 3-4 hours daily and still get a fat monthly paycheck. Is it really true? Then why don't more people from tier 1 make the switch to in house roles? Is it true that their career will plateau in house roles and they will get better returns in law firms in the long run?
How much are in house counsels getting paid? Heard recently that start ups are willing to pay insane money for a one man legal team (upwards of 1 cr) from NLSIU with only 5-6 pqe. Is this really true?
Don't think this is true. Know one legal head of a prominent real estate company. Earns about 79L post tax
I know at least one person who is earning upwards of 60 lakh for a pre-ipo startup. He also has an offer of upwards of 1 cr from another startup. Another person was offered 70 Lakh for a recently listed company. Both from 2016 batch.
I know someone with around 7 years pqe who was offered 70 Lakhs by Zomato.
What practice areas are these people at? And how do they usually get these in-house jobs?
