It’s the massive fees and batch size increase plus the fact that they are obviously being paid above UGC scales considering many of them have left other NLUs who are similarly placed. And who knows how long these scholarship schemes will continue for once Messiah leaves. But the batch size and domicile quota can never be reversed.
Please do not spread misinformation. NLSIU currently pays approximately 85k gross every month to a fresh Assistant Professor, which is the UGC scale. JGLS offers a full Assistant Professor 1.4L gross every month to begin with, along with several other perks. There is a huge difference. People are choosing NLSIU over other universities because of quality and academic mindset and not money.
There are law firms that have been offering scholarships at other NLUs for years. Platinum does that at NUJS for example, instituted in the name of an alumna who passed away. This Sudhir craze is unbelievable. He's not responsible for every single thing that happens at NLSIU. This is what supporters of dictators and demagogues do, make it all about their deity. I do agree that he has taken several good steps at NLSIU though. However, it's not about him being an NLU alumnus. Non-NLU VC's like MP Singh, Menon himself, Ranbir Singh have all done equal or better work. It's about being a good academic and administrator.

For the students who get the scholarships, there is no difference between AZB or Platinum. And nobody said that NUJS has beaten others to this point. Just that law firms have been doing this for years so it isn't pathbreaking. Clearly you have ▮▮▮.
