IITians are treated as gods in India while the average middle-class person has barely heard of NLUs, other than perhaps NLSIU. The media gives an impression that every IITian earns 1 crore a year starting salary. This video interview of two IITB grads shows a very different picture. I'm not disputing the 1 crore salaries, but perhaps on average IITs and NLU grads are closer than what people think? Maybe what NLUs really need is media hype?

Nirf data also proves this. But that's because engineering colleges have a large number of courses and higher intake. The CS/ECE students from top iits/nits/iiits definitely earn than top nlu grads.

Also in most nlus, there isn't that much difference between the highest package and the median package which is why nlus can't brag abt 1 crore packages and all.

However in the long run, Law definitely pays better since it values experience unlike the IT sector. The avg partner makes much more than an avg engineer after 10yrs from graduation.
Who treats IITians as god? Maybe you or people like you. I treat them as good engineers.
The average middle class also knows about NALSAR , it’s just that they are very new establishments. Remember IIT is not only famous for the 1 crore package but also for JEE advanced. While clat is getting extremely competitive by every minute and the success to grab a seat at the top NLUs is even less than .05 percent , it will receive more hype day by day. It does to a certain extent already and people are academically inclined towards law as a career majority of the reasons due to clat. Also don’t forget it’s very unpredictable something which the average middle class will take time to understand. But with the number of application pool increasing every year and the droppers steadily increasing for clearing the exam , it’s definitely gonna get some footage in future years. The average package of NLUs (top 5 at least) still gives the middle class pool a good satisfaction. It will do more.
Average T1 NLU grads earn more than an average IIT grad. The media will only highlight a couple of packages in crores which usually go to toppers of CSE branch and because of these...the average salary goes up.
