(1)What is the work pressure in judiciary. (2)Should one choose group B legal officer in government which will be converted to group A through first promotion in the capital of the state or a job in lower judiciary?
Honestly, judiciary is prestigious and worth trying, but legal office with the Government wont give you enough learning and earning. Why such an mediocre ambitions especially when you are stating your career? You should start your career with a law firm (preferably tier 1 or join Tier 2/3 with ambition to move to tier 1 in future) or at least a good corporate or MNC rather than joining a Government. If you are coming from a lower or middle classes, please do not avoid above honest advice - people seldom give right advise due to jealousy. Its start of your career - so pls be aggressive, and focus on learning and earning well. Don't get me wrong, aspects like work life balance can wait - save them for later when you start your family.
What if one has secured low grades and has done mediocre internships and publications till 4th year? Will they still get accepted at tier-3 firms?
I will say go for a job which has a better chance of you being in the city. In judiciary u will spend the majority of your life in villages which is not bad but you will have to consider good schools for your children and good hospitals or medical facilities for your aging parents which is difficult to find in villages or small towns. Other than this, you will never have stability, judicial officers get transferred every 3years and you will keep moving around the state.

My advice would be to opt for judiciary if you are applying for the Delhi Judiciary else go for a legal officer's job which will ensure stability.
A) Job brings responsibility & responsibility bring pressure so there is no job w/o work pressure and can't be compared with other. Either go for JS or LO both have high pressure.

B) Scope & opportunities are now better in Judicial Service after the craze for this service touching sky. LO's promotion scope is quite limited & depend upon department/org. policy where as promotion scope & policy is uniform in Judicial Service throughout nation.

Conclusion - Dono ke liye apply kar do agr Dono nikal jaye to J.S ko preference dena
One may also consider jobs as law officers with regulators. In fact SEBI has just come out with its recruitment advertisement for recruitment officers in its Legal stream. Detailed advertisement is available on the β€œCareer” section of the SEBI website.
