Can anyone recommend law firms in Kolkata that specialize in general corporate or PE/VC matters? Additionally, what additional qualifications would be beneficial for pursuing a career in these areas?
KCO is there for GenCorp, so is Argus. SAM no longer focuses on deals here much. Aquilaw does some Gen Corp work. PE/VC is almost non-existent.
Khaitan, SAM and Argus are the big names that you might be looking for. Among others, you have Aquilaw, Citadel (at least that is what they claim on their website) and Ashlar.

A couple of outfits might exist around Sector V but I am not sure about it. Kolkata is mostly about litigation so its really hard to track down corp law firms as such.

PE/VC is not non-existent. The big names regularly engage in it. Smaller firms like Ashlar are also doing some work in this area. Albeit you cannot compare it to any T3 firm in one of the big cities, but its not non-existent.
Yeah, would really be helpful. please add names of corp firms that pay decently!
There is no PE/VC. Gen Corp work is muddled with commercial work. The Gen Corp teams generally handle real estate too. Wait for 10-15 years when industries and businesses come to the city. You will get corporate work then. Honest remark- Kolkata is developing but at a really slow pace. It should have already had the same status like Bangalore.
Industry aar business ee toh nae ey khaane. Ki kore PE/VC firm paben?
Looks like you haven't heard about chop industry. Didi will bring PE investments for that!
