No, they don't refund the full amount. A friend of mine lost almost 50k, when he chose not to go to NLUD and went to NALSAR instead based on his CLAT ranks.
They refund all the money if you opt out of taking admission there, don't they? So, I don't see it as a huge issue. Besides, apart from NLS and at the most NALSAR for some aspirants, nearly every other CLAT ranker who gets a CLAT NLU and clears AILET would prefer NLUD. And there's less some 100-odd students (in all categories) every year who even get to make that choice. Yeah, you might have to take a loan if you're from an economically weak household, but maybe reach out to the college authorities if you need help.

Does anyone know why NLUD keeps shifting the AILET date so that the students cracking AILET have to deposit the admission fees before they can get to know their CLAT results? They claim to have made a name for themselves now, so much so that students would give AILET not as a second option but a primary one. So why this behaviour like the private universities, trying to exploit the students by taking advantage of the information asymmetry? Instead they should hold AILET around the same time as CLAT so that the students should know their performance in both the exams and then decide for themselves which university they want to go to.
