Does anyone know why NLUD keeps shifting the AILET date so that the students cracking AILET have to deposit the admission fees before they can get to know their CLAT results? They claim to have made a name for themselves now, so much so that students would give AILET not as a second option but a primary one. So why this behaviour like the private universities, trying to exploit the students by taking advantage of the information asymmetry? Instead they should hold AILET around the same time as CLAT so that the students should know their performance in both the exams and then decide for themselves which university they want to go to. Before the NLUD trolls start defending their university's honour here, just one question to them. Had you been a student, wouldn't you have preferred to know about all your options before you had to part with a substantial amount of your parents' hard-earned money?
Had that been the case, then AILET would be continued to be held in the same time and not be preponed just after CLAT was.
They refund all the money if you opt out of taking admission there, don't they? So, I don't see it as a huge issue. Besides, apart from NLS and at the most NALSAR for some aspirants, nearly every other CLAT ranker who gets a CLAT NLU and clears AILET would prefer NLUD. And there's less some 100-odd students (in all categories) every year who even get to make that choice. Yeah, you might have to take a loan if you're from an economically weak household, but maybe reach out to the college authorities if you need help.

But to get to the point, it's a simple question of demand. If someone in the merit list doesn't pay up, there is already a person next in line who will, so the college doesn't have much to lose. NLUD uses this to their advantage. Plus, shifting the CLAT cycle to December has made this a problem since merit lists go on being prepared till May of the next year with people choosing different colleges. Previously, when I took the two exams, there was time till CLAT results to confirm whether you are taking up the NLUD admission.
No, they don't refund the full amount. A friend of mine lost almost 50k, when he chose not to go to NLUD and went to NALSAR instead based on his CLAT ranks.
Then, he must’ve withdrawn after the deadline for withdrawals had passed. That’s your friend’s fault since the college can’t fill up vacant seats of people leave after the academic year begins.
Wow, such logic. Why can't NLUD stop their stupid separate exam and just join CLAT and save students a lot of this trouble? Because they are greedy AF.
No, because they’re smart and know how to get funds. Also because they’re a good law school so people actually want to study there if they get a chance, and they apply. Why should we join some second-rate exam like CLAT when AILET does a good job of getting talented students and keeping NLUD on top? Just so you can feel better about your CLAT rank? Lol.
No, because you insist on being clubbed and compared with CLAT NLUs, that's why. People are not asking why Jindal holds LSAT. What you call smartness is actually greed, which any reasonable person understands. If all the NLUs follow the same route, then the aspirants will be completely demoralised and talent will be lost. Don't keep claiming how other CLAT people have left their universities in bulk for NLUD. Join CLAT and prove it. Otherwise, shut up.
