He was raided by the CBI in Sep 2022 and has been avoiding ED summons citing ill-health. The Delhi HC said last month that he cannot avoid summons, but the ED should give advance notice of two weeks. The ED has now done so today.
He belongs to the coal belt (Asansol) and had once suggested the setting up of a second campus of NUJS in Asansol. He has been taking an active role in the affairs of NUJS, unlike any other law minister from the past.
