Hello Everyone!

I’ve recently joined a Law Firm (Boutique, New Delhi) which specialises in Arbitration and a bit of Transactional work. I’ll be joining in July 2023 (Through a Campus Placement, Non - NLU, batch of 2023, First Gen. Lawyer). Pay is average.

My academic records are good and I’ve got good internships too, I got through Khaitan for an internship at the end of my 9th Sem with a referral from my previous Boss, got a stellar feedback from my Buddy and all the SAs and Associates from departments in which I worked but by that time all vacancies at the particular office had been filled up (HR told me the hiring for 2023 batch has already been done)

I’ll be joining a Boutique Law Firm in New Delhi and I plan to switch after 1.5 - 2 Years to a better law firm (preferably Tier 1, 2 or 3). I’ve read previously in LI that cold emailing partners and then applying through the website may work. I’ll also try to make connections as I proceed through.

If you guys have any tips, do let me know!

Thanks!

(As a First Gen. Lawyer, and Non-NLU pass out I have no connections and everything I did, was the best I could do. If you guys can help, it would be absolutely wonderful)
Start your career first and then decide. There is literally no point thinking about switching 2 years from now! There is so much which could change such as entry of foreign law firm, you may want to do super specialisation/narrow your focus towards a particular field, you may want to leave law altogether (trust me, it happens more than you can imagine) etc. etc. Start working; it will be a rude shock to transform from a student to an associate since you will be entrusted with lot of responsibility and would have work all the time (compared to limited window internships wherein you know the end date).
Thanks a lot Design! Got a good perspective from your comment!

Encouraging others to put forward their views as well :))
