I'm a pqe 2 lawyer at a tier 3 firm. I plan to switch firms. After 10-12 years, is there any scope for me to go independent ?

I've heard disputes partner for independent as it's relatively easy for them, do corp lawyers go independent and if yes, how do they get clients. Pleae help
