People who have made the move to in-house jobs after a couple of years at a law firm - what were the key factors for you while taking the decision? Do you regret moving in-house? What skills do you require to do your job that are typically not associated with law firm firm folks?
Lower pay, 30% tax, poor quality work, below average peers and seniors, no timesheets, no targets, usually poor bonuses. Work life balance is good but it’s career suicide. You might like the chilled out life at first but regret few years later. Law firm partners / PAs are welcome to be GCs but very rarely GCs get a chance to join law firms at a senior level (exceptions do exist). Challenging work is usually shipped out to law firms so most work is monotonous and low quality.
