LLM qualification will probably be not required in the Indian context because empanelled Indian lawyers at these firms can only advice on one jurisdiction (Indian) and anyone who has already been working with them on an Indian desk would already have an LLM for equivalence purposes.
Yes, Indian law firm leaders should definitely be upset at this. Anyone with an LLM or foreign bar qualification will have an insane advantage. Look at what US firms did when they opened up in Brazil. They hire few people, only LLMS, and first year pay is as much as what a partner at a local Brazilian firms makes. This will happen in India as well, at a much more massive scale.
1. Bhasin has some 10-12 underpaid associates, what is he fretting about? In a tier ranking the firm won't even come in Tier 5. Allen and Overy is in no rush to poach his M&A gang of fresh grads.

3. These firms can't get the BCI to even send them a read receipt on WhatsApp, what will even come of such petitions? Any firm with the guts to oppose it should have filed a petition on Day 1, but they know the foreign law firms will not take kindly to it so they have their tails between their legs.
Because an obligatory health warning should go with anonymous posts soliciting personal information without much background information, even if it seems authentic. But it's your personal data, so you are free to do what you like and give it to Zuckerberg, BJP or Chinese communist party if you like. :)

Against the move by SILF to oppose this entry, we (me and a couple of other law firm associate friends) are planning to send a representation to the BCI in support of such move. We have made a good document for this effect and we need your (law students, associates, partners) so that the BCI knows we are all overwhelmingly in support of this move.
