Saw this indirectly raised in the thread about how A&O prefers foreign LLMs in other Asian offices. I'm just curious whether NLU grads get more respect in global firms than grads from other Asian countries? Or can we at least say that NLSIU, NUS Singapore and Hong Kong University are Asian tier 1, in the eyes of Magic Circle firms?
Also, how come Chinese, Japanese and South Korean law schools are ranked well in QS, even Taiwan University??? These people study in their own languages and can't speak much English! Do they get jobs in London and New York??? I am familiar with Seoul National University (SNU) in South Korea because of shows like Squid Games and Young Attorney Woo. We see that Young Attorney Woo graduated first in her class from SNU and that's apparently a big deal. But do firms in London and NY care?
Nobody cares about NLSIU outside India. These days, not even within India. Their placement have been good, but not the best for years now. It's going to get worse with their increased batch size and extra programmes like 3 year LLB.
Joke of a ranking. How are Chinese law schools better than NLSIU? Dictator country that doesnβt even speak English. Has any Chinese school even qualified for Jessup, leave alone win?
