I was shopping at South City Mall (a famous mall in Kolkata) today. On the way back, I passed through Jodhpur Park, a prominent neighbourhood next to the mall. I was horrified to see posters all over Jodhpur Park abusing Justice Rajshekhar Mantha. Justice Mantha (bio below) is known for his uprightness and polite demeanour. I wanted to take a photo with my phone, but the taxi I was in drove too fast. On coming home, I found the news all over Bengali channels and found reports in the media online (links below).

Apparently, the judge was heckled today by TMC lawyers and is being condemned for the "sin" of removing security from the family of Abhishek Banerjee, whose names have come up in the Bengal coal scam. They are also baselessly accusing him of being soft of Suvendu Adhikary.

Now I wonder whatโ–ฎโ–ฎโ–ฎ LI have to say about this? I am also curious to know if the NUJS SJA will make a statement, as he is a visiting professor there.

Fairly certain there is nobody who is defending the actions. So why are you foaming so much in the mouth about the lack of protests? How does what is recognised as an illegality and is being investigated already become the subject matter of protest?
Okay. I thought UP would have it by now, what with the state government themselves behaving like goons by demolishing other people's homes and beating people up randomly on the street, but has not happened yet.
