The current Vice Chancellor, Dr. K.C. Sunny who took charge in 2019, has done very little for the overall improvement of the University in terms of academic standards, mooting culture, internships and placements to name a few.
This could be true with the fact that there is a case pending before the High Court of Kerala regarding the appointment of the current Registrar M. G. Mahadevan. (https://www.barandbench.com/news/lawyer-moves-kerala-high-court-challenging-appointment-of-nuals-registrar)
The academic standards have fallen below par, so much that guest faculties are teaching papers like Maritime law, Banking law, Insurance law. (https://www.livelaw.in/job-updates/legal-jobs-guest-faculty-law-vacancy-at-the-national-university-of-advanced-legal-studies-nuals-217556)
There seems to be about very little data on how the so called NLU has performed in the past few years with regard to placements. This can only point towards how abysmal the University has gone down in standards. It has to be in the hands of the next Vice Chancellor who comes in to fix this NLU around or continue this sad state of affairs.
Nuals dropping in Nirf is interesting, but NIRF and other ranking systems aren't really established enough yet with NLUs: it could be that they botched their application or something along those lines: few colleges actually become radically worse on every metric in just the space of a year, surely?
It's possible that it's trajectory is not upwards, but it doesn't seem like it has 'fallen off' any lists of NLUs...
Is the author the disgruntled faculty behind this smear campaign?
