Sure, Greta and her followers and generation are not saints and all eco-warriors, but you don't know enough of them to claim they are all hypocrites who buy iPhones every year and produce more electronic waste than others and that they've done nothing or that they're activism is worthless compared to 'simple folk', both of which are dishonest reductions.

How can boomer be a mindset? baby boomers are people born post world war 2- so thats between 1948-about 1960/ early 70s. Clearly there are number of people from that generation in india who have had a very positive impact and done excellent work- are they suddenly not in their generation cause theyre cool? what gives you the right to claim ownership of them like that? they absolutely belong to that generation which is why ok boomer is silly ignorant response.
A comeback is not a response. Thats the problem with "ok boomer". Its dismissive and apparently superior while lacking substance. Literally no one is saying all kids are useless and should be dismissed. People are responding to a wholly ignorant post about how easy things were for older people. its only one side going ad hominem here as far as I can see.
Its also a silly moderation policy when youre marking stuff as trollish because someone calls something idiotic but not when literally the only response is "okay boomer". like its a response thats totally void of substance and it stinks of ageism and you dont think its trollish because why? youre not the one being insulted? because there are other insults the other party could use? Write a policy and stick to it. I know you think your shit doesnt smell, but it very much does. Youre a person with biases and it shouldnt mess with other peoples enjoyment of this website- you just dont build a productive community that way.
perhaps you should look at whatsapp uncles with a little bit of empathy- they dont understand how new media works and are only responding to stimuli around them. Consider that encouragement rather than shaming them or dismissing them or seeing their age as a character flaw is a better strategy to keep them engaged? what about the idea is puzzling? engage with ideas, engage with what people do- not who they are. The people ranting about kids these days are ranting about specific behaviour.
I teach young kids- I could tell you theyre not immune to misinformation- they're reluctant to do their research, they will believe anything influences tell them, they have short memory spans and cannot comprehend complex ideas. Anything that doesnt automatically work with their cognitive biases they are likely to reject. And they take criticism, even if it is constructive- terribly. being susceptible to misinformation is not a generational thing. one could even argue that with the decline of traditional reliable news agencies its hurting younger people far worse than it did previous generations. You want to look at polls on the politics of young people in the country? the results may surprise you.
That's certainly NOT the case in the Far East, like China, where respect for elders generally trumps their potential lack of modern-day coolness.
In India it's probably a mixed bag of both, depending on where you live, or depending on whether your grandparents were freedom fighters or whether they've become WhatsApp uncles and how you might feel about that, as a grandkid.
However, isn't the point of "Ok boomer" online not that it's specifically generational, but used as a general putdown by youngsters against others exhibiting a caricature of the US 'boomer' mindset / or as a general comeback against 'you damn kids these days'?
I mean, reading it any other way doesn't make sense in India, you're right - there is really no such thing as a 'baby boomer' generation in India, no more than the slacker Gen X was probably much of a thing in India either. Most of those things - arguably even gen Z to some extent - are US American constructs that are shorthands for other things when used here.

Because those old people were doing agriculture and industry and building roads and bridges and sending rockets to the moon and putting satellites in orbit and employing all those people along the way so you could write "ok boomer" through your latest iphone on an anonymous message board and bellyache about having to study in a university where you voluntarily go because your parents havent spared an expense in your education so you can actually get one of those law firm jobs based on a the reputation of the college- that you havent done anything to contribute positively to. be better. go do something constructive than just whining and blaming others.

And whining constantly on websites like this about how everyone else had it easier than you and how your generation is the worst treated is not building anything. Grandma and Grandpa came from a generation where they were lucky if they didnt get polio by the time they were your age dude. your biggest annoyance is not having enough likes on instagram. Where english education was inaccessible and rare, and grandma and grandpa kept the family together and provided for their kids and the community while they were at it. and i betcha if you asked them questions theyd tell you some pretty cool stories of what they actually built. And regarding your "criticism" of boomer politics. I would say its grossly misinformed. Get out of your damn bubble. Read indian news and history and politics from time to time. Everything that americans do is not worth imitating. Literally the boomer generation- those above 65 in india now. They are literally people like Indira Jaising, Upendra Baxi, Madhava Menon, Sukhadeo Thorat, Manmohan Singh, They literally fought fights for righteous social justice causes. they didnt just tweet it and call themselves superior to anyone else.
The boomers in India actually grew up right around the time they had to go fight wars against china and pakistan- yknow, oppressive dictatorial countries. and fight an oppressive emergency government at home .

At the very moment of independence your ancestors actually wrote perhaps one of the most liberal inclusive constitutions imaginable. A constitution that gave every one regardless of gender, class, or caste, or race, the right to vote- america didnt do that for years and years after. In short, if you start a mini-culture war topic over generational differences and 'ok boomer' is one of the worst of responses imaginable, then maybe don't start mini-culture wars about how Gen Z and the wokes are upsetting you so much, because there's maybe no real other response you can give to such broad generalisations.
That is, even though it is true that Gen Z as a whole may be over-entitled and over-sensitive and may listen to some pretty bad music, but why not let them have their fun and find their way, as every young generation has had to before them and will after them too. Half-right: grandpa/ma is not automatically an asshole for being themselves, but grandpa/ma have always been uncool in the eyes of the young, and so it should be so that grandkids build upon the works and countries that grandpa/grandma have built and fixing the problems they created, rather than worshipping at their altars.

Who memorises case law in law school? You’re doing it wrong.
They had to go find cases in cd Roms in libraries or actually go find the physical copy of the reporter and that’s if they had access to those things. And you have all the information in the world at your fingertips and you manage to turn yourself into the victim.
Honestly these days students are spoon fed, teachers are forced to give out not just ppts but also notes. Teachers back then taught what they knew and it was up to you to internalise that information or not.
They didn’t have guaranteed jobs at the end of law school. Hell people didn’t even know what a law school was - they had to go chart their own course, hustle to get their own jobs. There was no placecom doing the work for them? There was no name recognition with masters universities ? There was no alumni network to show you what to do. No one to teach you CV formatting even. You just figured it out as you went along.
And do you really think the country was not politically divided during Babri? You idiot. They just made friends despite it all because that was their inclination. They didn’t constantly virtue signal and hold each other up to purity tests. My best friend in law school has polar opposite politics when we joined. But over time she changed her politics and I became more moderate. We gave each other the grace to change and recognised each other’s humanity. Y’all can’t do it because you don’t think you have anything to learn at all.
The world didn’t start with you idiot and it won’t end with you either. Stop all this navel gazing scab picking behaviour and go do something constructive for a change. Do some community service ! - More friendships. Ideological divisions not leading to personal fights
Cons:- Primitive internet. Harder to get hold of study resources, no Instagram, Tinder etc.
