This rings VERY close to home. In many law schools, teachers who set tough exams and fail students receive low feedback scores, while those who set easy exams and hand out high grades receive excellent feedback.
Gen. Z wants to be spoon-fed everything, including how to study? Teachers are not parents, psychological counselors, therapists, public performers, clowns and educators all packaged into one.
So no brownie points there.
As about enforcing rules, if you want to be a hardass who says things "unfortunately, death of a mother has not been mentioned as a ground for exemption since grief cannot be verified/quantified" then you better spotless yourself. You can't have your own recruitment botched up, while showing off rules to students in the most heartless fashion. Ultimately, someone will call out your hypocrisy.
I am sure this old fogey was failing students like a sport.
