The 'contacts' who vouched for KRay's ability included the likes of Menon himself. Nor did anybody question his ability to teach. Regardless of his position in any given firm at the time when he was hired, he already had an excellent industry rep, way more than any teacher at any NLU other than Rahul Singh. A case in point being he left the university and joined another firm as a partner. Nor was his recruitment botched up, since he was not hired as an assistant professor, but an adjunct professor, which does not require an LLM compulsorily under UGC rules (even in this year, there are at least six such people working at the same place with similar qualification and designation). You also avoided mentioning that his LLM was from Columbia, so no question of ability there, clearly. I agree that he lacked empathy, but he never 'cut any corner' as you are clearly insinuating.
