BCI has embarked one new institution IIULER in Goa to provide quality international standard legal education. Was there really a need to create one when we have number of NLUs not being funded? How it would compete with JGLS?
BCI won't recognize quality legal education if it comes and dances before them wearing a tea-cosy!
There are Supreme Court judges directly involved in this new international university. They want to build what NLS bangalore could be but failed to become - a truly world class law school that can compete with foreign universities. NLUs dont come on QS rankings, THE rankings they just compete with each other for CLAT students. Rent seeking organizations with no vision for the future or the world. Think of how ISB came up and trumped the older IIMs. IIULER attempting the same. And thats why they brought Srividhya Ragavan, a tenured US prof on board to the VC and not one of their usual chamcha VCs who will just do their bidding. Shows they are serious.
Then they wouldn't have started with charging stupendous fees that will keep most of the merit away and at the same time, offer only public university salary that would again keep most of the merit away.
A tier 4 law college is always better. Anyways nobody is gonna make any money.
I am unsure as to who is funding this uni, can someone please shed some light on this, I am sure it is not BCI
