Unfortunately the “dream job” we are sold is not really a dream, and even during internships we don’t understand the full picture.
Please try to apply for in-house roles or boutique firms. See if there are any folks from your college working there, or if some senior from your law firm shifted in house. Try reaching out to them.
.... I secured a job with kinda tier 1 law firm with more than a lakh rupees per month of salary. 2-3 months into the job, I realised, the work hours and working days were LITERALLY never ending. Someone or other would call even on festivals/ sundays/ airport/ approved leave for some or the other urgent work which could not wait as if it was their oxygen. Weekdays - on almost all days you didn't have the time for either, few or all of the following - breakfast, lunch, bathing, dinner, 6 hrs of sleep (no exaggeration). Upon asking for extension for a work with Tuesday end of the day deadline, they would be generous enough to extend the deadline to Wednesday morning. I resigned in approx three months. Ik it would look pathetic on my CV. I dont mind any extreme pay hit or bad role or bad work or anything now (screw my career, I just want a living now) - if someone could suggest a work place which is nowhere close to this - just not a litigation role.
