I saw an ad for this course in the papers today. The entry criteria is "Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India" + cutoff mark in an entrance test conducted by NIFT. The course is for 2 years and the total fee is 6 lakhs.
The course covers "Mall Management, E-Business and Store Operations. Relevant new areas of study like Intellectual Property Rights, Social Media Marketing, Luxury Management, Services Marketing, e-commerce and the study of Special Product Groups"
Recruiters listed include Bennetton, Walmart, CK, Esprit, Gucci, HSBC, ICICI, ITC Will Lifestyle, Levi's McKinsey, Nike, Reebok, Reliance Brands, Taj Hotels, Wipro etc.

Do you know anyone who has done this course after BALLB and is it worth it? Here are the pros in my view:
1. Should be much easier to gain admission to an MFM course than an MBA course at IIMs
2. Much cheaper as well
3. NIFT has the status of an Institution of National Importance and has brand value (arguably more people have heard of NIFT than many NLUs)
4. NIFT has campuses in all major cities in India and they are pretty good
5. The course covers IPR, which is already taught in law schools so lawyers may have a slight edge
6. The recruiters are well-known companies, including non-fashion houses (so the subjects taught in the course may have applications across sectors)
7. Perhaps long-term growth opportunities could be more compared with a law degree, e.g. possibility to be CEO of a fashion company as opposed to general counsel?
8. Perhaps there could be a chance to move abroad after the course -- at least more chances compared with law?
9. The crowd at NIFT should be better than NLUs, i.e. no toxic boys and mean girls (or lower number of them)
The cons could possibly be that the salaries are lower than what Big 7 firms offer (I don't know) but maybe it's better to work for some of the above companies at a lower scale than a Big 7 firm at a higher scale?
