Short answer - not really. I’ve not relied an iota on my uni network and seem to have done none too shabby.
Have faith in your abilities and box above your weight category. Trust me, alumni base or lack of it will not mean a dime to you.
If your environment has people from college. Then yes-it does play a role-for instance, in the law firm world. If you change your environment, then you will encounter different folk who may or may not be alumni. Therefore. Yes. alumni base does definitely play a role-the rivalries play out. People are told about vacancies when required, for promotions -a word is put in etc.
