I am still trying to figure what are these irregularities exactly. I mean, I don't expect commentators here to adduce evidence in support of their claims, but at least the claims should be clear. As in is the allegation that FM recruited people of his own choice neglecting better applicants? Did he divert university funds for personal use? Did he violate any applicable regulation? Did he misrepresent anything to the governing councils? So long as the allegations are not at least specific, but vague insinuations only, they cannot really be called good faith criticism or even legit criticism.

You need to write out a policy for comments on living persons. And stick to that policy. Given that every other week there are posts here about other VCs that say things that are far more unflattering and are allowed, It’s hard to see why FM should receive special protections. You don’t seem to be even handed in your approach at all or really bound by any rules apart from your own whims and fancies.

Or you can go the other way- declare your preference for FM loudly and clearly and let people decide if they want to continue visiting this site. But it’s extremely selfish and irresponsible to want it both ways- to want to be seen as fair and also to support your homeboy.

It’s hard to take criticism and to face one’s own biases- and this defensiveness isn’t really helping you with it. But when you shut your ears to contrary opinions you ensure you don’t grow at all. Do better.

Agree, we are mindful of the responsibility that comes with moderation. Regarding FM, the man, as anyone else, is unlikely to be without flaws, but in historical threads about him genuine criticism often is intermingled with what looks like a concerted effort against him, often in language that would likely be criminal if allowed to be published. As such, it is sometimes hard to pick apart actual interest of his students in discussing his legacy, qualities and lack thereof, against the real and nasty trolling attempts that also takes place. In light of the latter, we therefore err on the side of caution on this specific topic and will marking comments contested that do not supply any evidence is one way of doing so.

From what we've seen, it does not appear to be bona fide or in good faith: to the best of our knowledge, the central government's law minister has never before interfered in such a manner in NLU affairs, even in egregious purported cases of 'discrepancies'. And do the advocates' original claims have any evidence attached to them?

If prima facie, the allegation/ complaint/ comment appears to be bonafide or in good faith, you must not contest it, and look for higher burden of proof, no-one here is finding him/ anyone guilty

It’s not really for you to judge whether or not allegations are vague or believable or whatever. You have shown in the past that you have a bias to favor FM. The students and members of nalsar community around him though have to deal with the real man. Flaws and all - not the version of himself he presents on YouTube . To discredit them outright and to make any proper discussion of his work difficult to carry out is harmful. This kind of tribalism is not in the best interest of anyone. Moderation is a fairly powerful tool, unless people can reasonably see that something is blatantly false/ something is obviously trollish. You should be less heavy handed with the moderation. You can have your own opinions and you can write comments stating them, but to use moderation as your way of commenting on threads is not on.

Why should being the Vice Chancellor prevent someone from having a political opinion or airing it? He is not a sitting judge! He is not forcing the students to conform to such opinion, nor does he run his YouTube channel with NALSAR's money.

The point that was made was not about the alleged discrepancies at all, but the circus that the selection process of the VC of NALSAR (and other NLUs before) has been relegated to.

Both the Modi govt and Faizan Mustafa are wrong. The Modi govt is wrong to interfere after maintaining all along that NLUs are Central universities. Faizan Mustafa is wrong for having a one-sided political approach and publicising it on YouTube, which is not expected of vice chancellor.

Caeser's wife must be above suspicion. This time allegations are against the Caeser himself. Consistent with his stature he should himself ask for an enquiry and get his name cleared. That will add to his stature.
If the allegations are motivated action should be taken against those who are spoiling his reputation.

For a national Law Minister to interfere in NLU functioning is unprecedented. The Modi govt repeatedly denies National Importance status to NLUs, so why the intervention now? Why was nothing said again the RW VC of NUJS Ishwar Bhat, under whom so much corruption happened? Make no mistake: this is 100% political. Reasons are:

- Dislike for Faizan's anti-BJP stance
- Sabotaging Faizan's chances for another term at NALSAR or anywhere else
- Sabotaging Faizan's chances of entering politics
- Telengana election: trying to pin blame on state govt
