The mistakes are right there and I am surprised by how I hadn't caught them before. I try my best but still miss it. Since this skill very critical to the profession and I feel that I might never develop this, is it fine to think about leaving the profession? I don't want to be quitter but if this is something I might never overcome I am thinking about it.
Is it happening with others too? Any way to improve? Am I just overthinking?
This is btw the last thing that should make you want to leave the profession because every job has its learning curves and if you can't get past proofreading docs, who's to say you'll get past any other initial curve in any other job. And proofreading is like, the most simple task that you can learn so chill out dude. Don't sweat the small stuff. Spelling mistake and all you can't be scared of 🤣
Making a checklist is a must also I think- so often people forget to correct things like clause numbering and it’s very embarrassing when that gets pointed out by a senior.
So either memorize every nook and cranny of the draft.
Or work on enough drafts that with experience you figure out all the areas prone to error (mostly the parts that undergo variations)
