This is pretty standard practice across many law schools - to get an extra member or two and have them be "coaches" or "advisors" etc. The downside is the junior will not have formal recognition from the organisers apart from a coach certificate, the upside is extra help.
Rule 3(2) of Lachs 2022 Rules reads as "The teams shall consist of no less than two (2) and no more than three (3) students [...]" Rule 3(10) reads "Except in extraordinary circumstances and only with the prior written approval of the Regional Organizer, no team may have the involvement of more than three (3) students and their Faculty Advisor or Assistant Faculty Advisor." NUJS posted officially, including on its LinkedIn Account, that the team comprised of 4 people. Now I know that they have this policy of a junior researcher but clearly it is against the Moot Rules. And this is not limited to Manfred Lachs. In every moot NUJS has one or two extra members than what the rules of the competition permit. Clearly this gives an undue advantage when compared to others. I hope this gets published, the proof is out there in the public. They can't blatantly violate the rules in every moot in the name of giving exposure to new mooters. This has to stop.
