This was expected since long and he gave hints himself, but it seems to have happened officially now.

This interesting for the following reasons:

1. Congress is seen as the natural home for NLU alumni, because the left liberal ideology dominates the NLUs. But the NLU alumni presence in Congress is dwindling now. Jaiveer Shergill (NUJS) left, Brijesh Kalappa (NLSIU) left.

2. In contrast, BJP made Vikramjeet Banerjee (NLSIU) an ASG and gave Lokenath Chatterjee (NUJS) a Vidhan Sabha ticket. AAP seems to be giving Kalappa a prominent role. This shows that NLU alumni are gravitating towards non-Congress parties, which seems to give them more recognition.

3. AAP is looking at Karnataka seriously and shedding its North Indian Hindu image. Kejriwal refuses to speak in English in interviews but he is now realising that AAP cannot be a Hindi party.

But is also has to be said that NLU grads are generally being ignored by political parties. IIT and IIM grads are given far more importance by BJP, including top union ministries and chief ministerships (Manohar Parrikar, Ashwini Vaishnav etc). Plus DU law grads too (Kiran Rijuju, law minister).
