People are saying NLIU Bhopal, RGNUL Patiala, and lower NLUs specially are on an forever decline just cause some year their tier-1 placement was comparatively low; while how Jindal got 77 CAM hiring which led it to jump in a lifetime euphoria. How come some handful of nice paying (Actually they aren't even paying ad per global standards LOL) tier-1 firms who hire by rolling a dice where each side is a random "Tier-1 college" and which ever appears on the throw that year gets most offers.
Doesn't this base people's ranking to a mere gamble for most law schools and somehow these firms decide ranking more than the college's own infrastructure and teachers. I believe college is more than just placements even if thats the sole reason one joined it. This way even an "NLU Tag" that a random 1000+ ranker flaunts is just a soceital showoff that gets them neither placement (coz low NLU) + I believe outside firm fraternity calibre and sources play bigger role.
Are we in a big hypocrisy? Also funnier fact is most leave these flashy big paying law firms within couple of years... so wait what use their top law school was when you are back to square one, on equal footing with all people (as no legal education in India is practical. and cmon don't say NLU teaches practically; GLC kids do better than your NLU Assam and likes).
Shall we not rank law schools on basis of administration and teaching + peer quality? Placement is of no use and parameter if its just a candle, ready to melt after being used for a while.
Its disheartening to see people sham lower NLUs and other colleges except Jindal for not placing enough? Does India lack good professors in law that only the good ones flock around these tier-1 colleges?
Publications are important, but no substitute for teaching skills.
What use is infrastructure that is not essential for your growth during student life, but only meant for luxury or comfort?
