The professor is just taking a leaf out of the VC's book.
Except for a few notable exceptions, NLUJ's entire admin staff and faculty are like that.
Ive heard the strategic and marketing management faculty (m-archy) is a delight to be around.
The VC doesn’t do this. He doesn’t get personal. He will tell you to prepare for a bad grade if you don’t work. That’s not the same thing.
Sudhir can get very personal and completely devoid of empathy for others' situation. I speak from personal experience. That's one of his few shortcomings as an administrator and teacher.
Not that great a teacher. He can only teach some people, incapable of explaining things to those who have difficulty in understanding what he's trying to convey. That's because of the rigidity. My way...or the skyway, Action Jackson style.

no one should use threatening language from a position of power, the concerned faculty should issue an apology

however the rest of the tactics used by the faculty is fine (even at first glance they may look harsh), get over it and do the readings
This complaint is not factually correct. Instead of putting every batch discussion on LI, get a life.
You guys are rivalling SSRians in your conspiracy theory bullshit
Ask your friends in Top 5 NLUs, this happened in 2018. Unfortunately, a lot of elite and privileged students defended the said star faculty. It is a separate thing all these vocal defenders, have collected LoRs from the said faculty.
If you don't like elite institutions and star faculty, why seek them out? There are many other places you could go to. You want the brand without everything that makes the brand what it is?
The brand did not get built by teachers like this. These are imported by Sudhir. NLSIU has teachers who were actually capable of explaining and teaching law without threatening and bullying students. That's how the brand got built.
Sudhir himself was a teacher in the past and taught most of the academic stars of today. The brand was built by the people with courage who were willing to put in the work. Snowflakes who need spoon feeding tend to do okay but don't really do anything for a brand.
Academic stars of today? Lol! Which of Sudhir's students have reached star quality today and teaching at NLSIU? Are you claiming the likes of Mrinal et al to have been taught by Sudhir?
With integrity, yes. With bullying, no. I am an alumnus myself and I know how my teachers behaved in class. They actually made the subject interesting and never balked from answering questions, even if the latter were not always the best ones to be asked.

[There will be pressure from administration masquerading as students to take this down. Requesting Kian to not do that.
Bwahaha. The first commentator was right. The faculty did take a leaf out of the VC's book it seems. Good enough! You reap what you sow. Get a heartless snob as VC because he has got a degree from Oxford and then face the consequences of his policies and behaviour.
He’s not heartless and he’s not a snob. And that kind of personal stuff is exactly what students are complaining about so how about they observe professionalism too? Or do the rules not apply to you delicate snowflakes?
Yes guys, he’s not heartless. He has a heart and feelings too. Boils in anger when he’s criticised.
Identity theft is not cool OP. Plus, your comment is factually incorrect. Get a life.

Ahahhhahah
I’m with the prof 100%. This is just a bunch of snowflake students complaining because they have to work hard. First they complain about poor faculty quality and absence of alumni. Then when someone actually comes along and enforces discipline they start moaning.
If you continue this line of commenting I will end you.

Universities are literally meant to bring students up to a certain standard. Why go to a top school if you don't want the education it offers? There are many very chilled out places that'll give you a degree and all the time in the world to do your own thing.
One can rule that a student, unless prepared, would not be allowed entry into the classroom and then mark them absent. Absolutely no law exists to prevent that. No court will rule otherwise either.
Make that rule first then. The professor isn't authorised to make that rule. Get it cleared from the EC. :)
Why? It's apparent that he's already got it cleared by the VC. Nothing you can do about it. If you don't like it, I dare you to complain about the VC to the EC. Go on, see how that turns out.
So your argument is, no one is following any sensical logic, rule, or law, and therefore everything is justified? Okay then, mujhe kya.
Teacher needs to have discipline in class in order to teach. You seem to be putting up a Chinese wall between the two. There isn't one. Of course, discipline in this case means academic discipline and not threats.
It was established years ago (after a lot of struggles) that NLSIU professors couldn't deny attendance to students who were physically present in class on grounds like not answering questions, sleeping etc. When did it become this dystopia?
Sir, with due respect, I have to inform you that the batch had to apologise because of the coward heritage that you guys gave them.
Coward heritage? Did the batch inherit such cowardice on a genetic level from the alumni? You apologised because you are cowards, don't blame others for your inability to stick to your position.
You guys should push for attendance to be automated.

Woke entitled Gen Alpha kids meet hard working Gen Y prof. Nothing to see here...
Seems you are very old. The professor as well as the students are Gen Z. Gen Y people are very old. Millennials precede Gen Z. Unrelated but dude these things sting
Err...yes. students do have the right to demand that the professor is engaging enough, regardless of whether it's a school, college or university. Don't know where you have studied to learn otherwise.
Merely knowing doesn't do zilch unless they are capable of teaching it to others.
Nobody cares about your hurt sentiments. Ending someone is obviously a hyperbole and spoken in the heat of the moment. He did not threaten physical harm. He is fully entitled to inform recruiters if he has misgivings about one or more students.
Now, I understand why Kian used to mention "NLU" in the headlines. Holy fuck! 418 likes! This post probably has one of the highest footprints.

If you're paid to respond to your friend's questions about the movie, you goddamn well should respond regardless of whether they have watched it or not.
This generation of law students is the worst ever. Products of a degenerate culture of entitlement and wokeness, where there is no regard for discipline and hard work, where high grades are sought as a birthright.
Yet your generation keeps hiring them every year and paying big money to them. One wonders why.
That kind of tautological thinking is why you need to prepare and pay attention in class.
If the professor finds plagiarised work, then there are regulations that he should follow, not threaten students in class or outside for that. Which [...] teaches otherwise exactly?
Absolutely agree with this commenter. The professor's response was disproportionate and out of line, and an apology may be due. But this whole idea of trying to justify 100% plagiarism in a rough draft is not okay. NL
If this is the culture at India’s best law school I don’t see many of these accomplished young people sticking around. In fact many of the older star faculty also wouldn’t put up with this. And then what will happen to the university? And your standard of education?
No Modi bhkat wants Modi want. Stop projecting your Congi fantasies.
Right the guy who called Modi an idiot in the New York Times is like Modi. Nice mental gymnastics.
This whole discussion is a sad indictment of today's lazy and entitled generation of students.
