I totally agree with Professor Ranganathan's tweet. What is especially unfortunate that our constitutional law professors discuss bank nationalisation blindly and bookishly. Very few professors point out the ridiculousness of having "socialist" in the preamble and the misrule under Indira Gandhi. They teach this way so because they either lack the ability to teach critically (being from TLC ratta maro backgrounds) or have personal ideological biases.
As for RC Cooper, let us not forget his association with the Swatantra Party, led by people like Chakravarti Rajagopalachari and Minoo Masani and supported by people like Nani Palkhivala. Had the Swatantra Party ruled India they would have abandoned Nehruvian socialism and we would have been a superpower today. They also genuinely believed in secularism. The party was led by Parsis who were minorities and were against religious fundamentalism from ALL sides. They condemned terror attacks against Israel and condemned Middle East countries supporting Hamas and Hezbollah, which today's fake secularists won't do.
It's terrible that Gen Z does not know about the Swatantra Party. High time political science professors in law schools compulsorily teach this chapter of our history.
