3. The fact remains that the current government has shown time and again that it does not really care about what the effect of its decisions on the mass is. Which is a dangerous trend insofar as any democratically elected government is concerned. It seems that the government has realised that with the caste and religion cards played well (which it does much more efficiently than opposition I have to admit), it can keep winning the popular mandate. Therefore, it does not have to worry about the economic effect of its decisions on the mass, or on factors like health, education and creation of jobs. In addition, those decisions usually helps its industry cronies get fatter at the expense of the people, which of course gets reflected in campaign contribution. Win-win for politicians and fat cats, lose-lose for common people.

Each time he has some new excuse. Don't forget this guy was voted in on the planks of Gujarat model. India, today after nearly a decade is far far away from being industrialised or developed. It's time we have someone with some real abilities take reins, enough of PR and fudging data. (I'm waiting for another set of benchmarks to fluff up the figures).
Inflation and debt hawkishness? The government has largely continued that policy, as much as is possible in the context of the pandemic and US Federal Reserve policies. Of course, the implementation is unsatisfactory, but that arises from not just RBI Governor - level policy but an accumulation of minute economic and cultural factors in business, bureaucracy, and politics. These are nuanced issues which are not necessarily dealt best through the heavily data-oriented perspective of the RBI and often require a lighter touch, which Rajan is not exactly known for.
If you mean his idea of privileging services over manufacturing, this runs contrary not just to BJP but also to longstanding Congress policy, to the consensus in development economics, and to many influential promoters' wishes in India. It is also not within the RBI's ambit. Even if the idea may have some merit, how exactly would it have been sold and implemented in the face of opposition by just about everybody?
None of these is to denigrate Rajan personally, and I can understand his worldview. But I do have reservations about it, as well as about his unusually expansive view of the RBI's powers.

It was to counter the high amount of speculation, among other factors which caused unprecedented rise in prices of wheat, that India introduced the export ban in May 22. (https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/trade-2/wheat-exports-ban-to-cut-access-for-international-speculators-says-s-jaishankar-8657731.html) Speculation, and with it the high prices, reflect only the hedging that is being done by financial actors; these prices do not reflect the actual situation of how much supply of wheat is there in the world (there is enough). This is where the crisis stems from. Its prices which have long detached from actual supply due to speculation.
From this point of view, re-introducing Farm laws - or worse, removing State-led management of stocks through, say, curtailing procurement, stopping MSP or abandoning a managed-trade policy - will likely allow for speculative interests to be back in control. Many on LI may not know, but some 16 years ago, India had to import wheat for the first time in decades (the 1960s were bad) because it had allowed exports to flow freely and then incurred a shortage, for which even imports were not enough. And mind you, the international prices of wheat were relatively low in 2006. If you get stuck in a similar situation again today, you are stuck with high wheat prices, an already inflated import bill (fuel imports), low economic output, rate hikes etc.

Use the tax for actually creating infra meant for the people, like good schools, good hospitals and non-exploitative jobs.
