Do you have any evidence to back this or are you farting hearsay?
1. Salve was NEVER offered the post of AG. In fact, Venugopal was the first choice, but Modi was told by a senior advocate of the BJP that he was not interested, and it then went to Rohatgi. During this period the lie came out and thats why Venugopal was made special counsel for MP in the NJAC matter. At the end of the 3 year tenure of Rohatgi, there was no looking to Salve or anywhere else, Venugopal was first choice.
2. If Tushar had to be made, he would already have gotten the job without 2 (now 3) extensions for Venugopal. He will remain SG and no ASG will be made AG above him because he is too valuable to lose were he to resign.
3. The frontrunner for the AG Post is C.S.Vaidyanathan who has been the go-to guy for the RSS for many years, and one of the lead counsel in both Sabarimala and Ayodhya. He is also about 20 years senior to Tushar.
4. Sundaram cant even be in the debate because he does no Constitutional law and even in commercial law is considered fairly ordinary. There is not a single big ticket case in the Supreme Court that Sundaram has done in the last 5 years except for his loss in the Tata-Mistry case.

It is well-known that Modi's choice was always Harish Salve, but he declined and the job went to Mukul Rohatgi on Arun Jaitley's suggestion. Rohatgi resigned, with media reports saying that the govt was unhappy with his work and Rohatgi felt "insulted" that Modi always consultant Salve for important matters. The job then went to KKV, at the age of 90.
So who will be next? Will it be Tushar Mehta, whose performance has been absolutely abysmal and who never had a great reputation as a lawyer to begin with, being imported to Delhi from Gujarat by Modi? Or could it be someone like Aryama Sundaram, who seems to take a pro-BJP line in TV debates? Could Modi appoint an ASG like Pinky Anand ahead of Tushar Mehta?
