So MNLU Nagpur recently took a 50cr Loan from a "not so publically disclosed source" and since our beloved Maharashtra Government has already forgotten about their three NLUs in the State which was established in the hope of compensating the state's late entry into the NLU circuit has already failed miserably now as all the three NLUs in the state lacks funds. The state government has put all the three NLUs at the mercy of funds generated from student fees.

NLU Nagpur had recently forced its students to pay hefty 2lakh+ fees in one instalment in a notification which was withdrawn after the internal uproar by poor innocent students, Even one of my batchmates talked about selling his ancestral land if the admin continues forcing such rules, but then the authorities have warned about this(Paying fees in two Installment) being a single one-time exception policy implemented in covid pandemic which would be phased out from next year onwards i.e 2023-24 .So again black clouds surround the future of vulnerable students and students whose parents are salaried people and their houses run on a very tight budget and even a small overrun of this budget could hamper the survival of such families. To such families forcing Payment of fees in One instalment is not at all financially stable and might open up financial vulnerabilities.
Well the reason primarily publically conveyed for implementation of single instalment of fees payment was
1. Payment of fees in single instalments has remained the Norm IN NLU Nagpur
2. The University has Taken a Loan of 50cr. and seeks support of students in repayment through timely payment of fees, more favourably payment in one instalment.

The rampant fees nuisance doesn't stop here, The authorities have planned to hike annual fees by increasing mess fees with an upfront hike of 40% Making the per-day cost of its mess fees even higher than the traditional well-established NLUs for e.g in fellow NLUs the charges are low like NUSRL charges around 95/day (http://nusrirachain/ts/default/s/zos.pdf) and 132/day NALSAR charges 145/day,RGNUL charges around 142/day,GNLU charges around 150/day then NLU Nagpur is charging 187.5/day approx to 190/day which is not sensible to a financially humble family which comes from a poor part of India.

These so-called Islands of excellence are becoming private islands of the elite class of students and families who can afford it not the poor students who aspire to gain knowledge in these academically superior instititutes. It moreover becomes disturbing when the administration can ease the suffering of its students and families it denies doing so.

Though this year the administration has agreed for taking fees in two instalments and we are thankful to them for considering the same, but the future of the payment of fees in one instalment from next year onwards would surely be greeted by anger and uproar. We request/ beg NLU Nagpur and similar institutes to not levy their burden on their students but rather knock door, sit on strikes do whatever their students would support them in doing so, But please don't leave their students vulnerable in front of financial problems.

Students come to these elite institutes to learn and research different domains of laws, at least don't force them to find fair prices for their ancestral lands for paying their fees .
