Thanks for responding! Getting secondments while already working inhouse isn’t really an option but maybe asking for more work is a start
OP - never have I seen something more relatable. How many years have you been doing this dance?
Dance been ongoing for 5 years and counting lol. Really got to get my shit together and decide one way or another :/ Where in the dance are you at rn?
I don’t want to leave practising law all together, I actually quite like it. It’s more the decision of going back to a Tier 1 or remaining inhouse.
Have you considered moving into a regtech company and set up their legal? Something in Fintech or SSMIs might be worth a shot.
I joined in-house at a start-up after working in a law firm for a few more years than OP.

This year, I've already done a 8-9mn USD acquisition and 10-15mn USD fund raise. I'm working on two small deals (
Just saw that my full comment didn't get submitted. So here it is:

Stay put. Mentally stimulating work or not vs visiting a therapist, there should be no doubt on this. Don't forget how badly you wanted to get the hell out of there and join an in house role. I did the same and my life is way better, just like you explained.
In the same boat. Are there any law firms that don’t heavily discount inhouse experience? In terms of PQE I’m at an SA level now but afraid I won’t be hired at that level if I decide to go back…because I’ve spent half of that PQE working inhouse.
