For those unaware, 6th June is the date the operation Bluestar happened, and is characterized by violent protests and celebrations outside the Golden Temple.
Not a day I'd recommend anyone step out of their homes in Amritsar. This government, given their lax stand on Canada based separatist groups is heading for trouble.

I wonder which part of this is a constitutional breakdown
Inefficiency of administration or increase in crime rate does not amount to failure of constitutional machinery.
Also, AFAIK, an emergency can be imposed when there is a breakdown of constitutional machinery.
Crime and violence is at an all time high.
Don't really see any exceptional talent in any elected members either to turn around the fiasco. Unless Raghav Chadda takes over. In which case the outsider tag will wipe out his party in Punjab.
My money is on President's Rule in less than 6 months. Possibly 3.
