Ek baar - just quote a wrong provision confidently to said partner and see him / her believe you despite it being wrong - no one knows the Companies Act by heart
Prompt in concepts of company law. A good understanding. Not a pictorial memory of the whole act.
One suggestion - make an outline of the Act - you may want to know say 20 commonly used provisions well and know where the remaining ones are to be found - that way you know the Act well enough
Index padh lo sirf. That way you've a rough idea where to begin research as and when the need arises.

For eg, mostly no one remembers the whole provisions on board meetings, instead they know they're Section 170-something and will read the relevant bits as needed.
Cause I heard some partner at KCo asking students to be prompt with atleast Companies Act.... I thought this is what being "prompt" at CA, 2013 would mean.
Until you do some work on it and practice them - you won’t remember them. Plus you may remember some parts well and have to always check the law for other areas. That’s fine.
