We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I'm struggling with focussing and getting done with assignments, papers etc. Other times, I'd pick one thing up and I'm severely hyper-focused for an extended period of time on the said thing.
To be honest I've always been this way but the curriculum and mode of learning has exacerbated it, and previously, I did have a consistent and above average academic record in school. But I'm really really struggling with the curriculum and the way to study for it.
I'm also very stressed since people across law schools seem to have a clear objective and path formulated to cater to this objective, and I'm really struggling with doing the same and losing confidence day by day. I have interests that are not law related i.e. finance and economics. I get confused whether I should be courageous enough to venture into these fields or redirect my focus (lol) on securing a PPO/ well paying job since I'm from a middle class family.
Sorry for the rambling. My primary questions are as follows:
(a) How to deal with the law school curriculum, extra curriculars & publications?
(b) How to improve my academics scores significantly?
(c) How to inculcate time management so I can focus on school + my area of interests?
(d) Lastly, what is the possibility I can build a career in economics + finance field straight out of law school?
I acknowledge some of my issues regarding time management, multi tasking etc. are rather generic, but since those active here have been former law students I thought the advice can be more applicable to my case.
Thank you very much!

What worked for me was narrowing down on the areas of law that I liked, and putting most of my effort there. I accepted that I cannot do well in all areas of law, and that is fine. My grades in some courses were terrible, but I scored well in the courses that I liked so on the whole I could maintain a top 10% rank. Similarly, I figured that I didn't like moots, ADR, etc. so I focused only on publications.
Definitely try counselling and therapy to see what works for you, but I think the key is to just sort out where you're good at and where you're not.
Middle class can't afford such a glorious health situation.
