If you've spent 1 year after law school, then frankly all law firms will be open to hiring you so long as you show that you've learnt something, even basic contract law shit like the difference between indemnity and damages, warranty and condition (this is from SOGA - so many people don't know this), pledge and bailment, etc.

If you spent 5 years in a law firm, left and joined a dead end in-house role, then 1 year isn't going to make a difference. If you're willing to put in the hours again, any firm will be willing to take you assuming you know your shit.

I have worked in a few firms by now and most of all work is boring repetitive shit, even in law firms, even while you're doing that Bn $ deal. If you're a transaction / non-disputes lawyer, then that boring repetitive shit is also almost always clerical. I personally always find formatting documents cathartic.

A job is a job. Don't believe the kool aid some people spew about how a job is supposed to fulfill all your existential needs and wants. It's a transaction where your employer gets your time and skill and compensates you with money in return. It should pay you an amount which allows you to live on a decent life (which is a naturally subjective) while allowing you to work with decent human beings and without too many unnecessary hardships. It's is nothing more not less.

Same place. Jumping ships is also difficult. You are in a relatively better position, I believe. Having spent so many years in this sh*thole, I am frankly fed up. I've started looking for positions in Private Sector Banks, hopefully will be able to shift soon. I'd applied to several T2 law firms as well, but to no avail. The problem is, everyone knows that the work in this industry is BS (typical clerical stuff which rarely requires application of legal acumen), hence no firm is interested in hiring you. The dilemma is that I am not prepared to join a law firm which pays me below 50K monthly due to my responsibilities. If you could afford a pay cut and join a law firm which will allow you to work your way up, go for it. If you are getting other well-paying opportunities in law firms, even better. Just look for anything which excites you! ANYTHING!

I joined one of the premier financial institutions of the country almost a year ago, chasing the in-house fad that everyone seems to be on about. However, I've come to realize that its a dead end job, and I'm stuck with clerical BS that will continue till I die, I'm barely learning anything new and growing frustrated week by week as my peers are jumping ships to better opportunities. How do I get myself out of this rut?
