GNLU and NLUJ are almost at par when we compare placements and GNLU is infact doing better than NLUJ in moots, Rhodes scholarships but NLUJ has a smaller batch size and also doesn't have arbitrary distribution of streams. Hence, I have ranked it above GNLU. NLIU in recent times have done horribly in everything and it has also impacted their placements to an extent. It's a shadow of what it was earlier.
I hope this answers your question regarding T1 NLUs. The best way to find a T1 NLU is to go through its placements reports. Contact seniors from different colleges and ask them their internal report. If the college is managing to place atleast 80% of the students who are seating for placements then it signifies that it is a T1.
GNLU is nowhere at par in placements with NLUJ. GNLU has batch size of 180+ while NLUJ has 125 but the number of students places is still higher at NLUJ, as well as Median salaries and no. of Magic Circle placements.
Also while the no. of rhodes scholars and moot achievements are higher at GNLU, no. of law firm partners and of top litigators are higher from NLUJ.
But the conclusion you have drawn is correct. so no resentments on any other facts.
When we compare the two colleges NLUJ and GNLU are almost at par there is hardly any difference between the two. The reason NLUJ has an upper hand is because NLUJ has a smaller batch size and better alumni base.
They have good management and a forward-looking administration.
I had the privilege of visiting NLU J and I was pleasantly surprised seeing the humble scholars that study there.
GNLU has triple occupancy room but NLUJ students get single occupancy room from 2nd semester itself.
I think still GNLU is much better than NLUJ, and I think GNLU would be number one in 10 months maximum owing to good administration.
We would be privileged to have a college such as NLUJ in our country.

They need to visit GNLU.
It's good college, but still I think it is Tier-3.
I think NLU-J has performed exceptionally well in the past 3 years (by winning Jessup & ELSA moot).
The NLU J people are humble and exceptional in what they do. As a proud GNLU student, I respect them, but GNLU is better than them.

GNLU is good but it'll take a few more years of consistent good performance to consider it a tier 1 NLU. As of now think of it as a tier 1.5 NLU.
NLIU fell off quite a lot in the recent years so it's more of a 1.5 Tier rather than 1.

I think we shouldn't take out our time to discuss about all these things. These things benefit none.
I've been to both colleges and NLUJ people are the best in what they do.
They have the highest number of partners in Khaitan (33 as of now), SAM (44), L&L (32).
The fact that they won RK Tanka moot in 2017 also adds to their glory.
GNLU has never won Jessup, but it still is better in mooting than NLUJ.
We have been at the forefront of the mooting culture in India and created a community of mooters that are second to none.
I'd suggest that doing this debate is unfruitful and instead we should be interested in knowing about culture of different universities and have positive interaction with them.
